28 March 1881 — Langham House, Portland Place
Monday. 28th [March 1881]. Face better & I got up abt 11 & went downstairs. Temmy came to see me– Mrs Burr came & sat some time with me. Mama was out all day at the Private View of the Kensington School of art. Temmy lunched with us. Directly after Henry took me to 3 Savile Row to go over the house & make arrangements. It seems to be most comfortable. Hill met me there & then we went together to the dentist who syringed my gum & then home. Charlie Eliot & little Evely came but Lady Hammond came & called me away. Constance came for a few minutes & had to go off to Buckingham Palace to see the Queen about the funeral of Pss Frederica’s poor little 3 weeks’ old baby who died a day ago. Sir Lewis & Lady Polly called also. Mr & Mrs Clark & Arthur dined. Mr Schreiber got cross & was rude to Arthur & the eveng was spoiled.
