22 May 1881 — Aldermaston Court, Aldermaston, Berkshire
Sunday. 22nd May [1881]. I went down to breakfast rather low in my mind as Henry seemed still ill. However he got up & came downstairs to Mrs Burr’s room & had little chats with his friends. I stayed in with him in the morng but abt 5 in the afternoon I took a walk with Mr Otway & we had a long talk over Henry’s prospects– He spoke freely against Lord Granville who he said was the most insincere of men & he said he thought Henry had better remain quiet a little while longer but if then he got no post he should ask what it means. Henry went to bed before I went down to dinner.
