21 May 1881 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 21st May [1881]. Henry stumbled getting out of bed & nearly fell from giddiness. He complained of not being well & had to lie down on the sofa. He had a fit of ague & I had to cover him up to keep him warm– Sir Wm Gregory called to tell me abt his son & heir– I went out at 11.30 & fetched Blanche & we went out together in my brougham to the S. Ken: Museum to leave word Henry cd not attend the committee abt the Exhibition of Spanish & Portuguese & then we went to see Connie. Returned for lunch. Mr Burton happening to come & see me he prescribed for Henry & said he might go to the country. As he had not slept well for a long time his head was bad & nerves upset. We went to Paddington for the 3.15 train. Unfortunately we were very early & there was not a bench to sit on & Henry could hardly stand. At last we got into the train. Ld Somers & Miss Ford met us & came with us. Mr Fergusson went in another carriage. Henry was very bad & restless all the way down. As soon as we got to Aldermaston I put him to bed in the dressing room & was up nearly all night watching him.
