30 May 1881 — Aldermaston Court, Aldermaston, Berkshire
Monday. 30th [May 1881]. Sketched all the morning in the grove with Mrs Burr after copying out a memorandum for Henry to send to the F.O. We painted till lunch time. Henry & I went down to the Island & fished with the Squire & I caught 25 gold schlei: & we had tea brought to us down there. After lunch I read to Henry on the lawn but felt so sleepy & headachy I went in & fell asleep & Henry fetched me to go & fish. After dinner the Squire & I had our last games of cribbage as we leave for London tomorrow.
