5 June 1881 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 5th [June 1881]. Henry did not get up till after 11. He seemed so low that on my own responsibility I stopped giving him his “bromide.” Arthur came & lunched with us. It rained nearly all day & was much cooler. At 4 I went out driving to see Lady Gregory & coming down Piccadilly saw the Frith demonstration of more than abt 500 people with a band of music & banners. After sitting with Lady Gregory I went on to Felicia & met her at her door just returning from church. Leila was also at home. Mr G. Tredcroft called there & Sir Rd Collyer. I went on to Connies & she came back to Hamilton Hse with me. I left her there & went with Ivor to eveng service at St James’ Church & then walked home just in time for dinner. We dined alone & went to bed early. Henry still dreadfully low. We went early to bed.
