12 June 1881 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 12th June [1881]. Monty & I went to St Margaret’s Westminster & stayed to the Holy Communion. We met Lord Elcho in church & told him Henry would be very glad to see him & was not well. When we returned from church we found him sitting with Henry & he promised to come & dine tonight. At luncheon Monty began to talk of his intended trip to Norway with Genl. Bernard Hankey and he said he wished we were going with him. Henry said that if it were not for his dinner engagements he would gladly have gone. I said I would easily arrange that if he would let me & he consented. I went to see Lady Eastlake & asked her to let me change the day she was to dine with us & then on to Mrs Poynter for the same errand & then went to meet Henry at the Somers & brought him home– Lord Elcho & Hobart P. & his wife dined with us– Mrs H. in a hideous red dress high but sleeveless wh gave it a curious nude look.
