16 June 1881 — Oatland Lodge, Weybridge, Surrey
Thursday. 16th June [1881]. Abt 11 we started for Ascot to see the Cup Race. Was not so fine as preceding days & there was a very heavy shower at one moment. We went to the Royal Enclosure & met all same people as on Tuesday amongst them Gertrude Seymer. I better with her & lost. Lunched in the carriage and Mrs Palliser wife of Capt. P. lunched also with us & spent most of the day in the Drakes’ box. We got home shortly before dinner tired & hungry.
