24 June 1881 — En route to Molde
Friday. 24th June [1881]. Abt 5 A.M. just as it was getting light we moved off—there was a strike of sailors & it was feared we should not get away but we were told some of the crew had been kept down imprisoned below & a scratch lot had been hired. When I got up for 9 o’cl breakfast we were out at sea & I went up on deck & tried to read but at last I had to give it up as a bad job & go to my cabin. I was dreadfully sick so much so that the stewardess thought I had better get into the fresh air & she got me into a hammock which was slung on deck—it did me no good & at 11 I got back to my cabin & to bed.
