16 July 1881 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Saturday. 16th July [1881]. We woke to find it a dull wet morng but Henry persevered & went out fishing at 7 returning to 10 breakfast disappointed at having hooked a fish & lost him at the Bank. He went out after breakfast & so did the Genl. The latter came back empty handed the former with 2 15 lbs salmon. Monty & I remained at home. I painted till lunch time at 2—& then again after till 5. Henry & Monty went out again fishing but it was now pouring & they returned to dinner at 8 empty handed and down cast. The Genl. fished on the bank—caught nothing & returned to play cribbage with me till dinner. After dinner I played cribbage with Henry & we all went early to bed.
