1 October 1881 — Mogliano | |
Saturday. 1st October [1881]. We intended to make an excursion to the castle of Collalto but it was dark & showery. At 9.30 I went down to discuss whether or not we should go. It was decided that we should breakfast at 10.30 & then start & if not fine eno’ not to go beyond Treviso. We started abt 12 in the rain & so did not go beyond Treviso. Went to see the Duomo & the Pinacoteca where there then was only rubbish– Bought Milan Exn lottery tickets & then walked to the Stella Doro caffé where I got a cup of coffee of wh I was glad as I had a headache. We drove to pay Mme Canevaro a visit a little way out of the town & she gave us tea. We sat & chatted & then she sang to us I accompanying her & then we drove home & I laid down & rested till dinner time & got warm. I went down to dinner but cd not eat. Signor Pucci & his daughters came after dinner & we all sang as usual while the others played whist. | |
