4 October 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 4th October [1881]. The weather was still bad—it rained most of the day. I painted all the morning doing a little touching up to my Turkish slave. Henry went out after lunch. I remained in. Had a visit from Sir Frederic Leighton & showed him all the pictures. Pasted into despatch book. We began to dine at 8 o’cl from today & we sat upstairs after dinner in the studio & I pasted again after dinner & we played cribbage.
