30 November 1881 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 30th November [1881]. I took Henry to Vianelli’s to have him photod at 10.30 & we got home abt 11.30. There was scirocco & I was upset at luncheon & cried I know not what at. Mrs Eden came just as we were finished & brought me an Alcock’s plaister which she kindly put on my knee to strengthen it. Then I went out in the gondola and we went to the Piazza & walked up & down. We met P. Metternich & Olga Mocenigo & Lady (B) Graham & walked with them. Charlie went to the station with Mrs Eden to get his tickets for tomorrow’s journey & they met us at the Piazza. Connie remained with Mrs Eden & Henry & I came home dropping Charlie at the Stabilimento—the girls had their last row in the gondola. Mme Hurtado & Idita came to tea & Mrs Eden & Connie came late. Olga Mocenigo came & dined with us quite quietly—& after dinner P. Metternich & Andriana Marcello came & spent an hour. Connie & Henry played their last game of cribbage—then Connie played the piano & afterwards the Prince banged out some of his walses & rather upset Henry who was tired & bothered & we were glad to go to bed.
