12 December 1881 — Paris | |
Monday. 12th December [1881]. I got up after breakfast & went out with Henry in a cab to DuCroquet’s abt my dress wh came home made all wrong; went to the M’s dressmaker abt her Turkish work wh she wanted to know abt having made up & then returned to Hotel where we found a telegram from Burroughes saying we cd not get in at 3 Savile Row as drains were being done. We telegraphed to the M. to ask if she wd let us go to Langham House & made up our minds to remain here over tomorrow. After lunch I took a cab & went out to pay visits went to 37 Avenue Friedland to call on Mme Hurtado—found her & Idita at home & sat chatting sometime with them. Went on to Mme Weisweiller, Mme Vlasto (54 Rue de Naples)—Mme Porges 11 R. Montalivet—found neither of them in– Went back to hotel. Dined there at 6.30. Went to Theatre Français to see Le Monde où l’on d’énnuie a very amusing piece & very well acted– | |
