13 December 1881 — Paris
Tuesday. 13th December [1881]. Having made too gigantic blots with my Calligraphic pen I proceed! I was headachy & lazy & breakfasted in bed. Got a note from Mme Weisweiller askg us to go to the opera with her tomorrow night– We shall be gone to London. Walked out with Henry in the Tuilleries gardens & went to the tennis Ct & got 3 racquets for Ivor from the marker there & then walked back to lunch. After lunch we took a walk again—left a card on Ct Chaudordy & then went on to the Embassy & left cards for Lord Lyons & then flanéd on the Boulevards & home to the hotel. Before we went we had a visit from Mme Vlasto & she ordered a Burano lace dress for her brother. She told us her father M. Zarifi the banker at Consple had had slight appoplectic attack & was now dangerously ill with bronchitis. Mme Hurtado & Idita called at 5 & when they left Palmaroli & his wife & son called & sat talking some time. We dined at home & played cribbage & went early to bed. Telegram from the M saying we could go to Langham House.
