3 January 1882 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Tuesday. 3rd January [1882]. Worked in the morning room with Lady Westminster. Sat talking with Maria in her room. After luncheon went out with Theo, Capt. Medlycott, Henry, Maria & Alice to the rockery, to see the chickens & round the wood. We found lots of primroses wh owing to the mild season have come out long before their time. Merthyr returned from hunting as we were coming in. Had tea downstairs– Came up & wrote letters till dinner. Whist—while Merthyr & I sang in the long gallery till 11– Luff came to dine & sleep.
