Wednesday. 24th May [1882]. Packed & arranged things in the morning. Maria came up early to try & arrange with me where to leave Jerry in my absence. She said she wd try & persuade Temmy to have him & went away soon & promised to telegraph to me– Mrs Willy Hanson came to see me– Alice Du Cane came & we sat & talked & sewed together. Monty went to the Derby with Mr Hambro. Luff came to see me & asked to be allowed to stay the night. Alice & I sat chatting till Blanche fetched me in her carriage & took me for a drive. The weather was horrid very windy & dusty but warm. At 5 we took leave of each other & I went home. Mama & Alice came & then went off to Gros.
