30 July 1882 — En route to Hull
Sunday. 30th [July 1882]. Still calm & I got up & went on deck & read & knitted & even went down to the saloon to lunch. In the afternoon Henry & I were playing cribbage in the chart house when Hill came to say there were some whales in sight & sure eno’ there were several whales spouting in the distance & we afterwards got pretty near them but at that moment the ship rolled a little & I had to lie still. I went to my own cabin & dined there but went & sat up on deck again in the eveng till 10 when I went to bed. It was a lovely night a slight W. breeze wh helped us on & a full moon–
