31 July 1882 — En route to Hull
Monday. 31st July [1882]. Got up after breakfast & sat on deck & read & then sat & talked to Mr Combe one of our fellow passengers. At 1 lunched below. At 2.30 we arrived at Hull & a small tug steamer landed us at once. Henry, Hill & I rushed off to the station to catch 3.15 train leaving Morris to follow with the luggage by another train. We arrived ¾ hour late at Kings X & so only got to Savile Row abt 10. Got some supper & undressed to go to bed when Maria turned up from dining at Lang. House & sat & talked a little while. She leaves Exeter House tomorrow for Bournemouth with her children. After she was gone Constance turned up & sat talking for a while & it was past 12 when I got to bed.
