1 August 1882 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 1st August [1882]. Got up latish. Fred Layard called & announced he was starting to fish in Norway near Bergen. I gave him some trout flies. Went to the drawing room & began to write when Felicia & Nelly Alderson called. I went with them in the carriage to Hill St to call on Miss Corry. She being away Nelly & I walked on to Lady Somers. She was out & so I went in & saw Miss Cocks & left a message to say I wd return. Walked on to Blanche’s & arranged to lunch there. Went on to see Susan Hambro & after sitting a while with her back to lunch with Blanche. At 3 went to Langham House to see my mother. Felicia offered to drive me home but at the door found she had not time as she & Uncle Lindsey were going away by train so I walked home & shopped by the way. I was not home long when Arthur came bringing Mildred & Rhuvon & we all walked together to Arthur’s lodgings & had tea there. Then he put the children in a hansom & sent them to the station to go home to Roehampton & he & I walked to Ly Somers & left a message accepting to dine there tonight & then up to Hyde Pk Corner & down Piccadilly home to Savile Row. Henry was at home. Dressed & went to dine with the Somers. Mr Buck (their agent) & 2 Miss Cocks dined there. We came home at 11.
