31 August 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 31st [August 1882]. Mme Bontempelli came to give us a lesson. The Upholsterer came & we settled to cover 3 chairs with Venetian stuff from Trapolins. After lunch had a visit from the Mar: & Mss Bentivoglio & while they were with me came Css Marcello & Theresa with her fiancé Conté Agostini della Seta to be introduced to us. They had come in from the country to go to the Prefettura to get their bans published. Before they left Mr & Mrs Curtis (US) came. He is an agreeable man who has travelled in England & takes interest in Art &c. Henry took Alice to the Lido & came back to dinner at 7.30. We had just sat down to dinner when Cortelazzo made his appearance & joined us. He remained with us the night. | |
