30 January 1883 — Paris | |
Tuesday. 30th January [1883]. In the evening dined at home & at ¼ 8 went off in a cab followed by the Childers in another cab to the Variétés to see Mlle Judic in “Mam’zelle Nitouche.” It was most amusing piece. We had a very good box. The house was crammed & nearly all the young people of the British Embassy were there & paid us visits. The acting was wonderfully good. Baron, Cooper & all played wonderfully. The piece was absurd but very laughable. We got home by 12– In the morning went with Henry to the Louvre to look at the pictures again. We wanted to see the late acquisitions. We came home to lunch quite tired but after resting we set off again to walk & called at the Embassy to see Mr Atlee & then on to order a bonnet & we walked round by the Rue 4 Septre to Kees the fan shop to see abt having my fan mounted & then home, rested till dinner. | |
