21 August 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 21st August [1883]. Drew all the morning & began to copy my sketch of the Norway room. Henry went out in the afternoon—read, began Machiavelli’s life by Villari. Had T at 5. M & Mme Palmaroli & their son came to dine with us & we took them out in the gondola & afterwards & listened to the Pittori singing. Left the Palmarolis at the Piazzetta & came home by 10.30. Mr Malcolm came to see me this morning. He brought me a lot of Renie Claude’s for preserving. He went off today to Botzen. Henry went to see R. Brown & thought him a little better. | |
