20 November 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 20th [November 1883]. My new maid Luiga (Gigia) came & I showed her her department. Mrs Eden called in the morng & we tried to work the sewing machine together which gave us some trouble. After lunch I went out in gondola with Mr Burton & Henry & we went to young Malgarotto’s to shew Mr B. what he can do in the way of modelling. Mrs OConnell came to tea up in the studio and stayed some time talking very pleasantly. Miss Lyall came & dined with us– I received the weekly flowers from Florence. | |
