17 February 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 17th [February 1884]. Maria went off to church. I remained at home. Henry, Maria & I walked to Hamilton House at 2 to lunch there. Found Ivor was away at Canford & there was only Cornelia, the children & Miss Green the governess. At 3.30 Maria & I walked to Half Moon St where we found Arthur just going in to his house & we paid him a visit. Henry went paying visits in the brougham. From Arthur’s we walked to S. Audley St to see Mrs Rate & she was at home. We found Edw Ponsonby calling there. Maria left me & went to pay a call & I walked home. We had tea at 5.30. Henry came in at 6. Arthur & Monty dined with us. Monty had been in all day with a bad headache but was better in the evening.
