11 March 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 11th March [1884]. Mrs Burr called & sat talking almost the whole morning. Directly after lunch I drove to Regent’s Park to call on Miss Grant & to give her some modeling wax wh I had and agreed to dine with her next week– I then drove to the other end of London to deposit at Ken: Museum the specimen of Burano lace [&] the copy of the Queen of Italy’s Rezzonico flounce wh they have bought for £68 & wh reached me by post this morning & then returned home to 5 o’clock tea. Henry & I dined at Mrs Lowell & the American Minister’s. Met Stanhopes, Pellys, Foster, &c. Mr Spencer Walpole took me to dinner & I sat next to Foster who was grumpy growly as usual. Mr Walpole was a kindly pleasant old gentleman– He spoke affly of my mother as soon as he realized who I was—& I had a pleasant dinner.
