27 March 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 27th March [1884]. East wind still prevails & I am quite hors de combat & Henry’s cold still bad– Practised glees with Alice & could not set to any other work. Henry went out to lunch with Miss Melita Ponsonby. Alice & I took a walk in the morning in search of cut flowers but found nothing to our minds. Alice & I lunched at home & then Blanche fetched her & took her to Lambeth. I remained at home till 4 as Henry had the carriage & Lady Kemball & Mrs Clark both came to see me. Mrs Clark announced the birth today of her 1st grandson– At 4 I went off to call on Mrs Drummond & met there Mrs Evelyn & Mrs Burr &c &c. At 5 I went to tea at the Murrays & Alice joined me. We went home on foot. Mr & Mrs Rate & Margie & Lachlan, Blanche & Edward Ponsonby dined with us.
