1 April 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 1st April [1884]. I wrote & did accounts. At 12 I went out in the brougham to Blanche to see if she wd come with me– She was going out in her own carriage so I went off by myself, shopped & called on Addie Tavistock whom I found at home & after sitting awhile with her I took her to her mother’s house & went home to lunch– Mr Rassam lunched with us & directly afterwards Maria came & I took her out in the carriage. We went first to see Cornelia to ask if they had news of Mamma & then we went to try our mourning dresses & then home to tea. After tea we went to try on our bonnets in the Burlington Arcade leaving Mr Rate sitting with Henry. We took a cab & went to a shop to buy a present for Alice it being her birthday & then returned to Savile Row. Arthur came in to see me before dinner to beg me to take a present to Mildred tomorrow for her confirmation. Henry & I dined alone & played cribbage in the evening.
