26 May 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 26th May [1884]. All the party went to the Ducal Palazzo– I remained in to get my hair washed. Read some of Princess Alice’s memoirs. We lunched at 1.30 & then they went off to Countess Olga Mocenigo’s. I read & worked sewing machine. At 4.30 a visit from Lady Emily Dyke, & her sister Lady Florence Duncombe & Mr Duncombe & Mr Alfred Montgomery. Annie Murray was in & Henry [&] the 2 Mr Murray went with Alice to the Frari. It began to rain about 5 so the Dyke party stayed to tea– It continued to rain heavily all the evening. After dinner we had some singing & harmonium playing & abt 9.30 I went off to see Ersilia Canevaro & Maria Cozzi; there I found Gino Marcello & at 10.30 I returned home to bed & they started off to Css Valmarana’s–
