20 June 1884 — Turin | |
Friday. 20th June [1884]. Went to the Museum to see the collection of pictures & then drove to the Exhibition. Lunched at the Europa & went to see the Belle Arte department which was really painful. The Painting was bad & the choice of subjects worse. Horrors, deaths, murders & battles or else nude figures or lovers kissing. We were glad to get away from it & returned to the main building to see the Electric lights, machinery, weaving & silk making. Took a carriage to return to the Hotel. Dined at 6.30 at table d’hôte. | |
