8 July 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 8th [July 1884]. Hotter than ever. Terrible scirocco. Alice went out with Arthur, I remained at home. Alice not very well & could not go out in the evening. Henry took Maria Cozzi & Arthur to the Lido to see the Ballet. I went to Ersilia. We played duetts on piano together. At 10.30 Henry brought home Maria & took me home. A great storm threatened & they had hurried home– The storm went on all night but the air was not cooled.
