9 October 1884 — Florence | |
Thursday. 9th October [1884]. Henry went out in the morng. I stayed at home—read & wrote– At 1 Henry returned to luncheon. Mr Colnaghi called. We promised to dine with the Colnaghis next Thursday on our return from Perugia. Henry & I walked to the Torrigiani Palace in hopes of seeing the pictures there. Found that owing to the absence of the family they would not show them. Drove to St Mark’s & went over the convent—now a museum & beautifully kept. Walked back to the hotel. Wrote till dinner time. Dined at 7. Read aloud to Henry. | |
