8 October 1884 — Bologna
Wednesday. 8th October [1884]. At 9 o’cl went with Henry & Morelli to Picture Gallery & I made a sketch of the Magdalen by Timoteo Viti. Henry & Morelli left me there & returned for me at 12.30 & we went to Mezzaratta. Mme Minghetti sent the donkey carriage to the gates to fetch me. It was a very showery morning. We lunched at 1 with them. Blaverna was still there. After lunch Sr Minghetti had to go to town. Henry, Blaverna, Morelli & Dona Laura played billiards & I sat by the fire & warmed my self & read. At 3.30 it had cleared up & we took our departure & returned to the Hotel. We took leave of Morelli who returned to the Minghettis & at 5 we started for Florence where we arrived at 9.30. Mr Colnaghi met us & told us he had taken our rooms at the Grand Bretagne & we went off. Got tea & went to bed–
