4 November 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 4th [November 1884]. We took out china & picked out furniture to send to London for our new house (whenever we find one). Carry Eden came at 2 & we 3 went out together first to Mercato’s to see his great “rubbish shop” & then to the Piazza where we parted—Carry to her home—we to ours. Cortelazzo met us in the Piazza & said he had arrived to stay with us & he came home later. Ersilia Canevaro came to tea & stayed some time chatting. After dinner we had a long talk with Cortelazzo about his work & Henry & I played cribbage till bed time.
