23 February 1885 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 23rd February [1885]. Cornelia & I played Haydn’s trios as piano duetts all the morning. Lunched at 1. She & I, little Rosy & Lionel & the nurse Ford all went by 2.5 train to Bournemouth to see the improvements at Branksome Dene. It was a lovely sunny day & the country looked very pretty. We took a turn in the garden & then went indoors to try different effects in painting the rooms inside. The house painter making various essays. Had a cup of tea there & returned by 5.15 train wh got us home soon after 6. Wrote till dinner time. Dinner 8.30. Played cribbage with Cornelia. Bed 11. | |
