22 February 1885 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 22nd [February 1885]. It blew hard & rained in torrents in the night & the weather became mild & muggy. I went to church with the family. Read a great deal of Crabbe’s Tales. It cleared up in the afternoon & at 3 Henry, Ivor, Cornelia & I & some of their children went for a walk up to the kitchen garden to look at the hot houses. Came in at 5. Afterwards I set to work to draw out a monogram for the Primrose League Badge—P.L. entwined with a primrose & 2 leaves & the Motto. This took me a couple of hours. Dined at 8.30. Bed 11.
