Thursday. 12th March [1885]. Wrote in the morng. Went to see Blanche at 12 & thence drove to fetch Annie Murray & we drove down to Roehampton. First went to Mrs Austin’s for ½ hour & then up to Ex House– Lunched at 1.30 & sat working & talking till 3 when Alice & Ola came back from staying at Inwood. Took a turn in the garden & had a look at my little Wardian case wh Maria’s gardener is arranging for me. At 4.30 we had tea & then Maria & I drove down to Mrs Austins to see her again. Annie walked there with Alice & from there Annie & I drove home. I & Henry dined at the Poynters & met Lord & Lady G. Hamilton, Mr & Mrs Haseltine, Mr & Mrs Batten Leighton & Miss Alice Duff Gordon– Lady George was very pleasant; she asked me to lend any of my handy work for an exhibition she has the management of. | |
