21 March 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 21st March [1885]. I went in the morning for a few mins. to see Blanche & then to Langham House to help Mama to arrange her Turkish work wh is still her chief occupation, & since she has managed it she has turned over nearly £10,000 & I went home to lunch. Maria & Alice came to lunch. Henry took Alice to the Bach Concert at the Albert Hall. Maria brought me up from Exeter House my Wardian Case beautifully stocked with growing ferns. After lunch I arranged flowers & then went up on foot to Park Crescent to join Maria who was giving orders for the papering &c of her new house. From there we went in a hansom to Haynes the Upholsterer &c Richard joined us at tea at No 1. We had a dinner party consisting of Mr & Mrs Graham, Mr & Mrs Holmes White, Mr & Mrs Thomson Hankey, Miss Monk, Miss Penelope Monk, Mr Mowbray, Mr Cartwright & afterwards I went to Lady Goldsmids party—a great crowd. It began to drizzle as I came home soon after 12.
