26 March 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Thursday. 26th March [1885]. Maria & her son Arthur lunched with us. I drove Henry to Westr & he took the chair at a meetg in the Jerusalem Chamber in aid of the Ophthalmic Hospital at Jerusalem managed by Sir John Lechmere for the Order of St John– Sir Henry Elliot was there also Hobart Pasha & Sir Rd Temple & they all spoke except Sir H Elliot. It lasted till nearly 5. Mrs Finn a consuls widow made a speech one of the best of the day. We dined with the Rates & Mr & met Mr & Mrs Henry Lubbock & Miss Somerset. | |
