31 March 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 31st [March 1885]. I went off before luncheon to call on Mrs Vaughan at the Temple & hurried back to lunch. Mr Rassam & his girl Theresa—Frederick, Maria were at lunch. At 3 Henry & I drove off to call on Mr & Mrs Burne Jones at North Enid Road. They live in a charming old house called the Grange in wh Richardson lived & wrote his novels– Mrs B. Jones is a charming little tiny woman smaller even than her sister Mrs Poynter. Mr B. Jones is a stoutish heavy looking man with a clean head & brow. He took us to his big studio at the end of the garden where we saw his elaborately finished cartoons for his pictures—one a series of Ulysses & Perseus. Alice dined with us.
