11 April 1885 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Saturday. 11th April [1885]. Theo was going on well with her broken leg & I went to sit with her a while. Dr Wiblin kindly gave me a lesson in whist in the morning. Lunched at 1 & went away by 2 train from Templecombe. At Wimborne Henry left me & walked over to Canford to meet Ivor & Cornelia as they were spending the day there preparing for Biraghi the Italian wood carver who is making the new staircase, who arrives in England today & is to come down to Canford with our servant Luigi tomorrow. I & Gigia went on straight to Bournemouth & drove to Branksome Dene Ivor’s Bournemouth villa—had tea—rested– Cornelia returned from Canford abt 6 o’cl. Ivor & Henry later. Dined at 8. We played whist in the evening to give me a lesson.
