27 September 1885 — Cison
Sunday. 27th September [1885]. Heavy rain & thunderstorms & no going out. Worked—played pianoforte duetts with Ninina. Henry & M. d’Adda went out for a walk & got wet through. After dinner there was another thunderstorm & the lightening fell somewhere near. Henry & Mme d’Adda were very amusing over their écarté– She got furious over his tremendous run of luck & kept talking at him in Milanese dialect whereupon Henry talked at her in Persian & they kept us in a roar of laughter. It was a very funny scene.
