4 January 1886 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset | |
Monday. 4th [January 1886]. Up to breakfast. Dr Wiblin left. Theo had their small picture by Fra Bartolommeo taken down & put on an easel in the morning room & I began to copy it in water colours. Today I did not get further than the drawing. Tea in our bedroom—read a great deal. There was a dinner party, Mr Dowell the clergyman, Lord Howth (who slept here), Mr & Mrs Lutterell. Some played whist. Merthyr, Mr Dowell & I tried over glees. | |
