9 January 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 9th January [1886]. Wrote letters. Went out for a walk with Blanche before lunch. Very cold, still freezing & very dangerous for horses. We lunched at 1. Fred Layard came to lunch & at 2 Henry & he drove off to the Providence Hospital to attend a Court Dinner. Maria & the twins came to see me & we went round to Blanche but as the twins have just had the mumps they were not allowed to go in. I took them to Mrs Hambro’s 22 Mansfield St & arranged she should come & dine with me– Then Blanche, Maria & I walked to Langham House & I sat with Mama some time. At 5 I went to tea with Blanche & stayed till 7 to hear her children sing & then I returned home. Susan came & dined with me– At 9 Henry returned home.
