17 January 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Sunday. 17th [January 1886]. I went to St James’ Westmoreland St service in the [morng] & Mr Haweis preached an excellent sermon on the possible disestablishment of the Church wh he declared necessary unless she reforms her abuses. After lunch I did not go out, till ¼ 7 when I called for Blanche & we went to St James’ again & Mr Haweis preached on the Prodigal Son—a very beautiful sermon—we got home late & did not dine till nearly 9, Mamma & Blanche & Edward dined. Alice & Hallam dined out. | |
