17 April 1886 — Talygarn, nr. Llantrisant, Glamorgan
Saturday. 17th [April 1886]. Returned to London by 11.30 train. Mrs & Mr G. Clark accompanied us to Cardiff. At Newport we got a good hot lunch & there joined the express which took us to town by abt 5.40. Frederick & Edgar Layard & Blanche dined with us. We had not seen Edgar for over 13 years & found him much aged & altered—quite white & looking the oldest of the brothers. He gave a bad acct of Annie who has had a stroke & had to go back to her soon after dinner.
