6 June 1886 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 6th June [1886]. I went to No 15 to ask May Ponsonby to go to church with me. I found her & Mr Arthur Ellis wanted to go together to hear Mr Haweis so I gave them my seats & went with Edward to Vere St Chapel to hear Mr Page Roberts. Blanche & the children joined us there. On the way back had a talk with Edward on the present state of politics; on the probable dissolution & whether Henry would go into Parliament in that case. Lady Bagot, Mr Vigor came to lunch. Ct Corti called to bid us adieu. Henry went out in the carriage & I took a cab & went to pay some calls. I went to see Lady Stanhope & met there Mr Jeune & there was much talk about tomorrow’s division. Then on to Lady Tavistock’s– She was in & alone so I had a very long talk with her & stayed to tea. Thence I went to Onslow Gardens to see Connie. She was sitting in the garden & while we were talking out stepped Froude & had a talk. I had to get home at 7 as we had Blanche & Edward & May Ponsonby, Mama & Nelly Alderson to dinner.
