16 June 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Wednesday. 16th June [1886]. Lovely day—but river very high. Went out to fish from bank. John took me in the boat to try at Lower Gredhus—nothing– Steamer came in abt 3, we only got the post at dinner time. Edgar went on foot to the Lake & returned just as the post came in. There was a telegram for him to say his wife was dead. He at once wanted to start home—but we found he could not be home even for the funeral so we persuaded him to stop on with his brothers. Edgar, Henry & I walked up to the bridge over the stream on the way to the saetter. Lovely evening. At 8 Henry & I went down to fish. Henry fished down from L. Gredhus & I fished from Bank 0.
