2 July 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Friday. 2nd July [1886]. We got up late & breakfast at 9.30. At 10.30 we started for the lake. Henry drove a carriole & I sat behind. Edgar sat behind the one that Fred drove. Lovely day & quite hot. Larsen & Luigi walked to Overaas & when we got there the steamer “Mignon” had her steam up—we went aboard her & went up the Lake to Eikesdal. It was a beautiful excursion—& there were many fine waterfalls—especially 2 close by Eikesdal. We took 2 hours getting there. Landed & walked up to the Skydhaus—a nice clean place. We opened our provisions basket & lunched there. Fred & I went off to try & get to the river side today for trout. It was very hot & we had to scramble down & then after all he got nothing. At 3 we went back to the “Mignon” & started back– The weather changed, it blew hard & we had to take refuge in the cabin to avoid the spray—the wind ceased before we reached Overaas & we drove home in the same order as we came. Dined at 6.30. Henry meant to fish at night—but it blew & rained so much he gave it up–
