13 July 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Tuesday. 13th July [1886]. Steamer came in at 6 & brought post. It was a showery day, after lunch I went with John to Friswold—& at Kiespool hooked a big salmon, after playing him a long time we were just bringing him in when he gave a plunge, broke the cast & was gone– Lower down I found Henry waving to me to come home & I found that the yacht “Black Pearl” had come in with Lord & Lady Pembroke, Lord Brownlow & Ly Alice Gaisford. I put on town clothes & drove down to Noste, went on board her, paid my visit & started the party in our 2 carrioles to make an excursion of the valley at 8. On the return Lady Alice & Ld Pembroke came to tea– We dined at 5. After our visitors had gone we returned to fishing garments & I had a last try from the bridge. Henry fished at night—0.
