24 August 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Tuesday. 24th [August 1886]. It being a fine day Susan, Miss Wade Brown & I made an excursion to the Lake. I sat behind the carriole, Susan driving. Miss W. B. had Thorwald & Andreas behind on her carriole. Before starting we went down to the Fjord with Monty to take up a trot he had set & found only 3 soles. Miss W. B. fished at Up. Haande while Susan & I made some tea. She only got a char & seeing the fish not rising we drove home. At the Up. Bridge I & Thorwald left the others & got into a boat to fish down. I got a trout at Terpool & a 14 lb. salmon in Kjespool with a minnow. It did not give me much play & indeed I landed it so quickly that I was very much surprised when I found it was a salmon. I got home late for dinner & found Henry had got a 24 lb. salmon so we did very well on our last day. They were at dinner when I got home.
